Bob Blackman CBE MP has launched a survey to hear the concerns of local residents on the Government's recent announcement to cut Winter Fuel Payments to pensioners.
In response to the Governments proposals, the Conservative Party has submitted an Early Day Motion to challenge the government's decision and demand a full debate on the issue in Parliament.
15,600 pensioners in Harrow East are set to lose their Winter Fuel Payment under the Labour Government’s proposals. That is a staggering 82% of people aged 66 and over in the Harrow East and is unacceptable. Many pensioners now have to complete a 243 question survey as part of the means-testing process. This is why Bob Blackman is launching his survey to ensure that the Government can hear the concerns of residents in Harrow East.
Introducing means-testing of the Winter Fuel Payment so quickly, with no previous warning will leave millions without a payment they desperately need to stay warm this winter.
