Bob addressed the cladding scandal in Parliament, stating that it is a disgrace that three and a half years after the Grenfell tragedy, there are still leaseholders living in unsaleable, un-mortgageable, uninsurable, unsafe properties. While remediation for unsafe cladding increased last year, Bob says that it has been too slow, and we must ensure leaseholders do not have to pay anything towards the cost.
Bob calls on the Government to extend the building safety fund into next year, increase the amount of money available, and make sure that the work is done. If necessary, this could include taking over the buildings to remediate them and turning them into commonhold, so that the leaseholders know that they have a safe building and do not pay a penny for the work.
