During a debate on affordable and safe housing for all, Bob argued that homes which have received planning permission should be built more quickly, with costs for developers who do not build them in reasonable timeframes.
Bob also stated that he hoped the Planning Bill was a work in progress and could be subsequently improved, while also saying we should be more ambitious with social housing. Bob praised the work of the Government on the Everyone In scheme during the pandemic, but says it is now time for the Housing First initiative to provide the homes that people need so that they are not forced to sleep rough on the streets because of their circumstances.
He additionally notes that the Building Safety Bill is also welcome, but urges again that leaseholders need greater protections from nefarious developers.
